The 1908 is common in grades through MS65. However, many of the coins in MS65 holders are not true Gems and this is reflected by the fact that of the 671 examples graded MS65 by the two services just 57 have earned approval.
This is a super high-end example with great color. I could easily see this coin in an MS65+ holder and I’ve seen less attractive 1908 $5 Libs graded MS66 by PCGS.
The last CAC approved PCGS MS65 1908 Liberty half eagle to sell at auction brought $2,340 in September 2020.
CAC has approved 57 in this grade with 14 finer.
