AMONG THE FINEST KNOWN PROOF 1903 LOUISIANA PURCHASE JEFFERSON GOLD DOLLARS

Just 100 Proofs were struck of both types of Louisiana Purchase gold dollars. Nearly all of these were given as souvenirs to Exposition and government VIP’s which meant that they were not readily available to collectors. Additionally, they were placed in frames along with a cardboard holder to house the coin and a certificate of authenticity.

This is a superb example with intense deep orange-gold color over deeply reflective surfaces.

This is the single best Proof 1903 Jefferson gold dollar I have ever seen and it is likely in the top three examples currently known.
