SCARCE PCGS MS63 1888-O $10
The 1888-O eagle is common in grades through MS62+. It is seen from time to time in MS63 but it is extremely rare finer than this. In fact, PCGS has graded just two in MS64 with none finer.
This very frosty example shows just a few light abrasions and it has pleasing medium honey-gold color. A few of the stars are flatly impressed on the radial lines. This is a very solid coin for the grade.
Since the start of 2016, there have been only three PCGS MS63 1888-O eagles sold at auction. The most recent APR is $6,500 in December 2018.
Both of the MS64 1888-O eagles are off the market in tightly-held collection, making this nice MS63 the best available quality for the date.
