The 1883-CC is similar in overall and high grade rarity. Both issues become hard to locate in properly graded AU53 to AU55, rare in AU58 and very rare in Uncirculated.
This green-gold example has a splash of violet at the date and a good deal of dirt in the lettering on the reverse. The surfaces are especially clean for the date and grade.
No CAC approved AU53 1883-CC half eagle has ever sold at auction. Only three AU53 coins--all graded by NGC--have sold since 2011 and the most recent APR is $3,840 set by Heritage 1/18: 6152.
This represents excellent quality for this date at an affordable price point.
