PCGS EF40 1876-CC HALF EAGLE

In my experience, the 1876-CC is an undervalued issue in the Carson City half eagle series which is not easily located even in lower grades.

PCGS has net-graded this coin as it has the sharpness and appearance of an EF45 to AU50 but is displays an old deliberate cut on Liberty's neck which begins at the throat and which extends diagonally to the base of the dangling curl.

No PCGS EF40 1876-CC half eagle has ever sold at auction (!) and only two in this graded in NGC holders have crossed the block since 2007. The most recent APR for an NGC example is $4,025 in the 2011 ANA sale.
