RARE CAC APPROVED COLLECTOR GRADE 1878-CC HALF EAGLE

I love this date and feel that the 1878-CC has claims as the single rarest Carson City half eagle. Collector grade pieces are almost never seen with natural surfaces ad good appeal.

This is one of the finest lower grade 1878-CC half eagles I have handled. It is clean and wholesome with lovely rich reddish accents on the obverse and the reverse. The surfaces are extremely clean and the eye appeal is far above-average for the grade.

No PCGS VF25 has sold at auction since June 2004. A remarkably similar ANACS VF25 brought $7,344 as Heritage 9/16: 4707.

This is one of my favorite coins in the Watch Hill collection.

CAC has approved two in this grade with nine finer.
