This is the most difficult of the later date New Orleans eagles to locate. It is scarce in MS63 rare in MS64, and very rare in MS65 and finer.
The luster on this coin is thick and frosty with some marks seen at the lower right obverse field. The strike is sharp and both sides show pleasing natural honey-gold hues.
There have been just two auction records for this date in CAC-approved PCGS MS62, both in 2018. One brought $2,400 while the other realized $2,640.
This date sells for three to four times as much in PCGS/CAC MS63, making a nice MS62 such as this appear to be especially good value for the New Orleans eagle collector.
CAC has approved 16 in this grade with 14 finer.
