1906-O $10, PCGS/CAC MS63+

The 1906-O is the final eagle produced at the New Orleans mint. It was formerly very scarce in MS63 and MS64 grades but quantities of nice coins have been located in overseas banks. However, this date is still not easily located in this grade range and many of the pieces in MS63 or MS63+ holders are more abraded than one would hope.

This is a really nice example which would likely have graded MS64 were it not for some marks on the cheek of Liberty. The luster has a satiny texture and the color is a rich natural yellow-gold. The eye appeal is excellent.

A PCGS/CAC MS63+ 1906-O eagle sold for $5,760 as Stack’s Bowers 2018 ANA: 4339. In October 2018, a PCGS MS63 with CAC approval brought $3,840.

If you can locate one, a PCGS MS64 will cost you around $7,500, and a CAC approved example in this grade could run you close to $10.000.

CAC has approved 18 in MS63 (with a small number of these grading MS63+) with 11 finer.
