1850-O $10 GRADED AU53 BY PCGS
The 1850-O eagle is an underrated issue which is moderately scarce in the lower AU range, rare in AU58, and extremely rare in Uncirculated. In circulated grades, very few exist which are choice and original.
This piece is mostly original with medium green-gold and russet hues seen on both sides. There is some luster remaining and the surfaces are relatively clean save for a cluster of shallow marks in the lower right obverse field. As on all known 1850-O eagles, the radial lines in the stars are flat. Please note that the “cloudiness” over TEN on the reverse is some scuffing on the holder NOT on the coin.
Since June 2015, three PCGS AU53 examples of this date have sold at auction. The most recent APR was $3,186 in July 2020, while the other coins sold for $3,360 in August 2019, and $4,320 in March 2019.
This seems like one of the better values in this group as you are getting a lot of coin for not a lot of money.
