Small Date variety, designated by PCGS.
There are two varieties of 1854-O eagle: the Small Date and the Large Date. These are fairly close in terms of overall rarity but I seem to see more of the Large Date variety.
This is a textbook coin for the grade with smooth surfaces and rich natural russet color on both sides. Only a small number of similarly graded 1854-O Small Date eagles have this much eye appeal.
A nice PCGS EF45 in an old green holder sold for $1,998 as Heritage 9/16: 4832.
CAC has approved 3 in this grade with 14 finer.
