1874-CC $10, PCGS/CAC EF45
By a large margin, the 1874-CC is the most available of the Carson City eagles produced during the tumultuous 1870s. However, it is scarcer in EF45 and higher grades than the 1880’s issues (1880-CC through 1884-CC).
This coin has natural russet color and is clean save for a long, thin horizontal mark under stars seven and eight.
Two PCGS/CAC 1874-CC eagles have sold in the last 3+ years, with one bringing $15,600 in the Stack’s 2022 ANA, while the other brought $11,400 in the Heritage 2/2023 sale.
An affordable example of a date that becomes scarce and expensive as you hit the AU level.
CAC has approved 10 in this grade with seven finer.
