CAC APPROVED COLLECTOR GRADE 1871-CC $10

The 1871-CC is a sort of misunderstood issue. While it pales in comparison to the 1870-CC, 1872-CC, and 1873-CC eagles, it is considerably more difficult to locate than the 1874-CC. This issue is especially tricky to locate with problem-free, uncleaned surfaces and nice natural color.

This example has what is typically referred to as “leather pouch” toning with rich reddish-gold with violet undertones seen on the obverse and the reverse. I can’t claim with certainty that this is the source of said color, but I can boldly state that this is about the nicest VF example of this date that I have seen or offered for sale.

The last auction sale for PCGS was this exact coin and it brought $7,050 as Heritage 4/2017: 15963.

CAC has approved this one coin in VF30 with 10 finer.
