In the popular "short set" of New Orleans eagles made from 1888 to 1906, the 1897-O is the second scarcest after the 1899-O. The 1897-O is not often seen in grades higher than MS61 to MS62.
This is a pleasing, high-end example with good luster and rich natural orange-gold color. It has never been dipped or enhanced.
