CHOICE UNCIRCULATED 1891-CC EAGLE

The 1891-CC is the most available Carson City eagle by a large margin. It is scarce in properly graded MS63 and rare above this. For most collectors, anything above an MS63 must be considered an overbuy.

While most MS63 examples of this date have a bleached-out appearance, this coin exhibits wonderful vivid orange-gold hues on both the obverse and reverse. The strike is sharp, the surfaces are minimally abraded and the overall eye appeal is excellent.

Three non-CAC PCGS 1891-CC eagles have sold at auction in 2016 and two realized $5,405 while the third--in an old green label holder--brought $6,169.

If available, a PCGS MS64 1891-CC eagle would cost around $15,000 which makes this nice M63 a seemingly excellent value at around one-third the price.
