Until quantities were uncovered in Europe, the 1894-O was regarded as a very scarce issue in any Uncirculated grade. Today, it is scarce in properly graded MS62, rare in MS63 and essentially unknown above this.
This fresh-to-the-market example is uncommonly choice and clean for the issue with light rose-kissed surfaces showing no severe marks, as usually seen. The color and luster on this coin are far above-average, making it a premium 1894-O eagle.
An NGC MS62 1894-O eagle with CAC approval brought $2,115 as Heritage 11/14: 3319. NO PCGS/CAC MS62 has been auctioned.
