It is believed that fewer than half the original mintage of 165 Proofs still exist, and many of these are in PR66 and PR67 holders, making them too high-priced for most collectors.
This borderline Gem shows pleasing natural green-gold hues on both sides and it has never been messed with. There is a single thin hairline in the left obverse field and a few hidden ticks on the reverse. The naked-eye appearance is excellent.
There are three APRs for a PCGS/CAC 1913 $2.50 since early 2013. The two most recent are $18,000 in 8/2020, and $19,200 in 11/2019.
A desirable example of this rare issue.
CAC has approved a total of 21 in all grades, with one in PR64 and 19 finer.
