THE FINEST 1892-CC HALF EAGLE GRADED BY PCGS
The 1892-CC half eagle is common through MS62 and only scarce in MS63 but it is exceedingly rare in MS64 and higher. PCGS has graded just this one coin in MS64; a coin formerly graded MS65 by this service (last sold as Superior 9/97: 2940) appears to have been removed from its holder and now grades NGC MS65.
This date is always marred by conspicuous surface ticks and this example is remarkably clean, suggesting it was carefully preserved after it was made. Both sides show deep orange-gold color and the strike is 100% full. This is by far the best 1892-CC half eagle I have offered.
