This date is far and away the most available quarter eagle from the Charlotte mint. It is easily located in EF grades but really cosmetic examples with deep natural color are much less available than one might think.
This is an exceptional ultra-original 1847-C with lovely deep reddish-gold and green color. The surfaces are nearly perfect save for one small shallow tick before the first star. Both sides show plenty of natural dirt in the recesses and this piece has great overall eye appeal.
There are no recent records for a PCGS EF40 1847-C quarter eagle and none with CAC approval.
Unimprovable quality for the grade and excellent value for the new collector beginning to assemble a set of branch mint quarter eagles.
