SCARCE CAC APPROVED 1849-C QUARTER EAGLE GRADED EF45 BY NGC
The 1849-C quarter eagle is an appearance rarity which is very seldom seen with nice color and choice surfaces. In fact it is one of the more difficult quarter eagles from this mint to locate with CAC approval.
This piece has outstanding natural deep russet color and it is well detailed. The obverse is absolutely immaculate with uncommonly clean surfaces; two shallow old digs are seen on the reverse below ES in STATES.
No EF45 1849-C quarter eagle from either service has sold at auction since July 2014 and there are just five APR's since early 2006.
If you are working on a Charlotte quarter eagle set, you are well aware of how hard it is to locate a nice 1849-C.
CAC has approved two in this grade with five finer.
