NGC AU58 1884-CC HALF EAGLE
As with the 1883-CC, the 1884-CC half eagle is not often seen in properly graded AU58 and it is really rare in Uncirculated with just three or four known and only one better than MS61.
This slider shows very little--if any--wear with a touch of friction on the obverse high spots. The color is a pleasing natural yellow-gold and the strike is razor sharp. The surfaces are very clean and what appear as a diagonal scratch on the cheek is mint-made and diagnostic to this issue.
The last two NGC AU58 1884-CC half eagles to sell at auction brought $7,813 (1/18) and $8,225 (2/17).
If available, an Uncirculated 1884-CC half eagle would cost in excess of $20,000.
