This heavily melted date is not often seen finer than MS62 to MS63 and most of the examples seen in holders are scuffy and not choice.
I can't figure out why this coin is only graded MS62+ and it looks way better than most MS63 1922-S Saints and better, even, than some in MS64 holders. The frosty surfaces show light scuffs only and are complimented by a layer of natural orange-gold color.
The last five APR's for non-CAC MS62 1922-S $20's have ranged from a low of $2,820 (8/17) to a high of $3,525 (9/16). The only APR for an MS62+ is $3,055 for an NGC MS62 which sold in 12/15.
CAC has approved 6 in MS62 with 68 finer.
