ATTRACTIVE CAC APPROVED PCGS AU53 1850-O EAGLE

The 1850-O eagle is a reasonably available date but it becomes hard to locate in the mid-AU grades and it is rare in full AU58. Most of the pieces graded AU50 to AU55 are either bright from a recent dipping or they are excessively abraded.

This is an original example with even natural green-gold hues covering the obverse and reverse. The strike is typical for the issue with weakness at the centers but the radial lines in the stars are better formed than usual. You could scrub this coin and it would grade AU55 or you could leave it as is and let future collectors take pride in its attractive appearance.

No CAC approved AU53 1850-O eagle has ever sold at auction and there are just three APR's for PCGS AU53's since 2002. The most recent sale was for $3,408 as Legend 6/15: 423.

This is an uncommonly choice piece for the date and grade and it represents excellent value for the savvy No Motto eagle collector.

CAC has approved just this one coin in AU53 with seven finer.
