The popular US Assay Office $20 is typically collected alongside the regular issue Federal double eagles and it represents an excellent Gold Rush collectible due to its relative availability and affordability. It is seen with some regularity in the lower to mid-AU grades but locating pieces with good eye appeal is not easy.
This light yellow-gold example is well-defined and has fewer marks than normal. There is some luster remaining and this piece has nice overall eye appeal.
The last PCGS AU53 example of this issue to sell at auction brought $7,638 as Heritage 4/17: 5834.
