An estimated 125-150 examples of this date are known from a mintage of 11,828. As expected, the 1875-CC is quite scarce in AU grades, and it is an extreme rarity in Uncirculated. For those collectors with a budget of $7,500-$10,000 there is not much available.
I grade this coin “EF45 net EF40” as it has the detail and luster of a choice EF, but there are a few small ticks in the inner left obverse field.
A PCGS EF40 1875-CC half eagle has not sold at auction since 9/2007, while there have been only three PCGS 45s since the beginning of 2010; the most recent sale for a 45 was Heritage 9/2023: 3146 at $12,600.
A solid example of this difficult date.
