PCGS/CAC 1854-S GOLD DOLLAR IN MS62+
Despite its status as a one-year type and also as the first gold dollar to be produced at the newly-opened San Francisco, the 1854-S gold dollar is an overlooked issue. It is—along with its Type Two counterpart the 1856-S—the most available gold dollar(s) from San Francisco. It is scarce in MS62+ and MS63; rare in MS64 and extremely rare in Gem.
This coin is fully lustrous with natural orange-gold colors on both sides. A few grade-limiting marks are visible with a 5x loupe but to my eyes, this coin more closely resembles an MS63 than it does an MS62; or even a MS62+ for that matter
Another PCGS MS62+ example of this date brought $5,160 as Heritage 2022 FUN: 3871 but it had no sticker from CAC.
CAC has approved two in MS62 (including this one coin in 62+) with eight finer.
