CAC APPROVED NGC AU55 1852-D
The 1852-D is a scarcer issue in the six-coin Type One gold dollar date run from the Dahlonega mint. Properly graded AU55 examples are scarce and AU58 examples are very scarce. With likely no more than 10 or so known in all Uncirculated grades combined, the 1852-D gold dollar is very rare with almost every coin in this grade range in MS60 to MS61.
This piece is accurately graded and it show lovely russet and green-gold whcih changes to a richer shade towards he borders. The depth of the color—which I guarantee you is 100% natural—covers the very heavy clashmarks in the left obverse field whcih are found on virtually every known 1852-D gold dollar.
Heritage 11/2023: 3616 was a PCGS AU55 in an old green label holder which I didn’t think was an upgrade; it sold for $7200,. No CAC approved AU55 1852-D gold dollar from either service has ever sold at auction.
At this price point, you won’t find a nicer Dahlonega gold dollar than this!
CAC has approved just this single coin in AU53 with eight finer.
