CHOICE AU 1882-CC DOUBLE EAGLE
This date is much scarcer than the 1883-CC or the 1884-CC. The 1882-CC is a tough issue in the AU53 to AU58 range and most seen are unnaturally bright and very heavily abraded.
This example is fresh-to-the-market and it shows enough luster to wonder why it didn't grade at least AU55. The fields are very clean and both sides show nice natural light yellow-gold with some deeper colors seen on the cheek of Liberty and at the peripheral reverse.
Two non-CAC AU53 examples of this date sold in 2015 (one PCGS and one NGC) and both sold for $5,288. In my opinion, the current example is far nicer.
A nice 1882-CC for the date collector of CC double eagles.
