NUMISMATICALLY SIGNIFICANT 1866 HALF EAGLE, PCGS/CAC AU53
Only 6,700 were struck, and this is a desirable issue as it represents the very first With Motto half eagle coined at the Philadelphia mint. The 1866 half eagle is not often seen finer than AU55.
This example is nicer than its images suggest, with the scattered abrasions on the obverse not as deep as you might think without seeing the coin in hand. Both sides are 100% natural with pleasing medium russet hues.
