A NICE PCGS/CAC AU58 1858-S DOUBLE EAGLE
Unlike most of the other Type One issues from San Francisco, the 1858-S has not had its availability compromised due to shipwrecks discoveries. It remains scarce in properly graded AU58, and rare any finer.
This is a nice coin for the date and grade with rich rose and green-gold hues which are more visible on the obverse than on the reverse. Unlike many 1858-S double eagles in this grade, this is a 100% original coin with no signs of having ever been lightened or processed.
