Normal Date Variety.
The 1852 is among the most available Type One double eagles.
This coin doesn’t have the dark, dirty appearance that most of the Type One double eagles which typically appear in DWN’s inventory. However, it is fully original with no signs of having been lightened or “improved.” The surfaces are clean and show just a few inconsequential marks.
Two PCGS/CAC AU58 1852 double eagles sold at auction in 2023 with one bringing $4,800 in March, while the other realized $3,600 in August.
At less than $4,000 this lovely “slider” is good value.
CAC has approved 66 in this grade with 42 finer.
