This is the fourth hardest Type One $20 Lib from the Philadelphia mint to locate. Only the 1862, 1859, and 1863 (in this exact order) are more difficult to locate.
The obverse of this 100% original, unadulterated coin is very choice, while the reverse has a fairly deep scrape over the Y and the D in TWENTY that likely kept this nice con from receiving a green sticker at CAC.
The last three APRs for an AU55 1864 $20 graded by PCGS are: $14,400 (3/2024); $15,600 (8/2023); and $12,600 (5/2022).
With AU58s currently worth close to $10k more than nice AU55s, I would suggest that the value-conscious collector focus on this high-end AU55.
