AFFORDABLE CAC APPROVED 1875-CC HALF EAGLE
The 1875-CC is a scarcer issue in the CC half eagle series with an estimated 150 or so known from an original mintage of 11,828 pieces.
This well-worn example is actually reasonably well detailed for the grade with a nice VG obverse and a Choice Fine reverse. Both sides are free of marks and they show pleasing natural reddish-gold color.
The last PCGS VG10 1875-CC half eagle to sell at auction was a non-CAC piece which realized $1,998 as Stacks Bowers 2012 ANA: 435.
If this could could only tell you where it has been since 1875...
CAC has approved two in this grade with eight finer.
Ex Heritage 6/10: 8809 where it brought $1,610.
