BEAUTIFULLY TONED CAC APPROVED PCGS MS66 1876-CC DIME

Type One Reverse.

This is a common issue by the standards of Carson City Seated Dimes, but true Gems are not often seen and any piece which is both nicely toned and well-preserved is quite scarce and desirable.

This piece is beautifully toned in multiple deep iridescent hues with blue, green, and light purple hues seen on both sides. The strike is sharp and the underlying surfaces are very clean.

There have been four sales of CAC approved PCGS MS66 1876-CC Dimes at auction with this exact coin (see below) being one of them. The two most recent sales are Heritage 7/2017: 3585 at $2,703 (for a dipped white coin), and $3,055 set by Stack’s Bowers 2015 ANA: 291. The coin I offer here is decidedly finer and it ranks as one of the nicer 1876-CC Dimes I am aware of.

A great coin for the type collector seeking a single high grade Dime from Carson City.

CAC has approved seven in this grade with two finer (both MS66).

Ex Old West Collection, Stack’s Bowers 11/2012: 1368 where it sold for $5,288.
