If you can swing a mid-four figure purchase, you can still play in the shallow end of the Proof Gold Pool. I would suggest you focus on gold dollars as there are some coins available in the $5,000 to $7,500 which will not skimp on looks or value, for that matter.

And this coin is exactly what I am talking about. In my opinion, this coin is a solid PR63+ to PR64 coin which has been accurately net graded as a result of a visible line in the left obverse field. Both sides show pleasing medium orange-gold and amber color over mostly unhairlined reflective surfaces.

Only 207 were made, and this date is at least 3x rarer than the common 1884-1889 Proof Type Three dollars.

None in this grade have sold since 2008 (NGC) and 2020 (PCGS).

With a Cameo designation, CAC has approved two with 13 finer.
