VERY CHOICE PCGS MS62+ 1807 BUST LEFT HALF EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

BD-8, R-2.

This issue is popular as a first-year-of-type and it is also a transitional as the old Bust Right design was also made in 1807. The 1807 Bust Left is seen from time to time in the MS62 to MS63 range but most of the examples in these holders aren't CAC worthy.

This example is CAC worthy and more. It shows splendid deep, natural green-gold color with thick, frosty luster and excellent overall detail. You could see this coin in a 63 holder and not think twice, given its fresh, crisp appearance. There are some minor scuffs in the left obverse field but these don't detract a bit from the overall extremely high level of eye appeal.

No MS62+ 1807 BL $5 has appeared at auction, There are two fairly recent APR's--both at $19,975-- for PCGS/CAC MS62's; one in January 2017 and the other in September 2016.

This is an ideal type coin and it is a testament to the excellent eye of the collector who assembled this group of half eagles.

CAC has approved 9 in this grade with 15 finer.
