CHOICE AU 1884-CC DOUBLE EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL
The 1884-CC is one of the more available Type Three CC double eagles, making it popular with type collectors. It is seen with some regularity in the AU55 to AU58 range but not often with natural color and choice surfaces.
This is a textbook AU55 with light wear limited to the high spots, clean non-marked surfaces and natural yellow-gold color. I can't add much to this description except for the fact that I feel that this is a truly choice example for the grade.
A similarly nice PCGS/CAC 1884-CC $20.00 sold for $7,050 as Heritage 3/16: 5115.
This is a perfect type coin for the collector seeking a single really nice Type Three double eagle from this mint.
CAC has approved 36 in this grade with 71 finer.
