AFFORDABLE 1874-CC DOUBLE EAGLE
The 1874-CC is much less available than the 1875-CC and 1876-CC. This popular Type Two issue is most often seen in EF and the lower AU grades and it becomes scarce above this and rare in Uncirculated.
This light yellow-gold example is moderately abraded and it shows a good amount of luster for the grade. As usual, the centers are slightly weak as a result of an uneven strike.
The last PCGS EF40 to sell at auction brought $3,055 as Heritage 2/14: 5530.
A pleasing, affordable Type Two CC double eagle.
