ATTRACTIVE AU 1854-O SMALL DATE EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

Small Date variety.

Varieties of 1854-O eagle are known with a Small Date and a Large Date. The latter is better-known while the former is actually harder to locate.

If I were assembling a set of New Orleans eagles for myself, I'd want every coin to look like this. It has very attractive caramel-gold and greenish colors over virtually perfect surfaces. To me, this piece appears conservatively graded and I have seen worse in AU53 and even AU55 holders.

Only one 1854-O Small Date eagle in PCGS AU50 has sold at auction since January 2012 and it realized $2,585 as Heritage 9/16: 4833. It was not CAC approved.

CAC has approved just this 1 coin in AU50 with 13 higher.
