CHOICE EF 1877-CC DOUBLE EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

The 1877-CC is a numismatically significant issue as the first Type Three double eagle from the Carson City mint. It is a relatively scarce issue and locating choice, attractive pieces in collector grades is much harder than one might expect.

This example is totally fresh to the market, having been recently located in Europe. It is literally picture-perfect for the grade with good definition, pleasing deep green-gold color with darker highlighting and a lack of the detracting marks which characterize this issue.

Only one PCGS EF45 1877-CC double eagle has sold at auction since August 2013 and it was a non-CAC coin which brought $4,230 as Heritage 10/16: 4696.

This is the finest available quality for the date at under $5,000.

CAC has approved 15 in this grade with 44 finer.
