SLIDER PCGS AU58 1875-CC DOUBLE EAGLE
The 1875-CC is one of the two most available Type Two Carson City double eagles, along with the 1876-CC. It is sometimes available in AU58 and higher grades but many examples in this range are not choice.
This fully lustrous piece has the first-impression appearance of a Choice Uncirculated but it has some light friction in the left obverse field and on Liberty's face; the reverse on its own grades MS62 or thereabouts.
The last two PCGS AU58 1875-CC double eagles--neither of which were CAC approved--sold for $10,575 and $11,163, respectively, in the Heritage 9/16 auction.
This is the best available quality for a nice Type Two CC double eagle at this price point.
