UNDERGRADED CLOSED 3 1873-S DOUBLE EAGLE
Housed in an old NGC "fatty" holder and at least an MS61 by today's standards.
The Closed 3 is the more available of the two Varieties of 1873-S double eagle but this issue is really difficult to locate above MS62.
This is a bright, flashy coin with great luster and vivid peach-gold hues on both sides. This coin is choc=ice and would be a no-brainer MS62 were it not for some business in the left obverse field.
No CAC MS60 examples of this variety have sold at auction in recent years.
A really neat coin for the collector who appreciates nice coins inside of interesting holders.
CAC has approved 12 in this grade with 36 finer.
