"GEM XF" 1858-C QUARTER EAGLE

Variety 1.

The 1858-C is the second to last quarter eagle from the Charlotte mint. In terms of overall rarity it is one of the two or three most available Charlotte quarter eagles. Examples which grade EF40 and EF45 are plentiful but few are choice and even less show totally natural color.

This piece was struck in green-gold and it has acquired some rich reddish-gold splashes after years of storage. There are some scattered marks in the fields but this piece has great color which gives it premium eye appeal.

No CAC approved PCGS EF45 1858-C quarter eagle has sold at auction. A nice PCGS EF45 realized $3,055 as Heritage 4/13: 5515.

CAC has approved 3 in this grade with 11 finer.
