1892-CC $10 GRADED MS62 BY PCGS AND APPROVED BY CAC

The 1892-CC eagle is scarce in properly graded MS62 and extremely rare finer. The coin I am offering here is the single best example of this date that I can recall having owned in close to two decades.

The dealer who I purchased this piece from told me that this coin was from the Fairmont Hoard and it was a “straggler” that was not pedigreed when it was recently sent to PCGS for grading. I agree with him as the color and appearance are identical to the small number of 1892-CC eagles that I saw from this source.

I grade this coin MS62+ as it shows fewer marks than normal for the issue. The surfaces are frosty and they show nice yellow and green-gold hues on either side.

The most recent APR for an 1892-CC $10 graded MS62 by PCGS with CAC approval was Stack’s Bowers 2024 ANA: 2131 at $18,000. I like my coin more as it is less abraded and its color is a bit more intense. In 2022, a PCGS MS63 sold for $45,600.

With just three coins graded in MS63 and none higher, this coin represents the best available quality for the date.

CAC has approved just three in MS62 with none finer.
