AM 1853 EAGLE GRADED MS61 BY PCGS/CAC
The is somewhat scarce in the lowest MS grades and it becomes scarce in MS62 and rare any finer. The single finest known—by a considerable margin— is the lovely Simpson/Hall coin graded Ms64+ by PCGS. It is now in the Tyrant Collection.
This is a fully original piece which is true to grade. It has somewhat subdued luster and some shallow marks in the upper left obverse field.
No PCGS/CAC MS61 1853 eagles have sold at auction. Stack’s Bowers sold a PCGS/CAC MS62 for $8,400 in April 2024.
CAC has approved four in MS61 with just three finer.
