NICE CAC APPROVED MS61 1852-O QUARTER EAGLE

The 1852-O quarter eagle is similar in overall rarity to the 1851-O but it is harder to locate in Uncirculated. There are probably not more than 10-15 properly graded Mint State pieces known with the best of these being a small number of MS63’s.

This is a superb, original coin from an old collection with the totally unmolested appearance which is almost never seen on this date. The surfaces are frosty and covered with rich natural green-gold color. The strike is as sharp as any I have seen on this date with virtually no weakness at the centers.

Heritage 10/16: 5460 brought $5,875 and it was similar in quality to this with a CAC sticker and lodged in a PCGS slab. Only two PCGS MS61 examples have sold at auction since 2012.

It would be hard to imagine a nicer example for the grade.

CAC has approved 8 in this grade with 1 finer.
