GEM 1892 PROOF HALF EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

92 Proof half eagles were made in 1892, I feel that slightly fewer than half of these are known. This includes a number of Gem to Superb Gem examples with stunning Deep Cameo contrast.

This example is notable for its strong contrast with frost on the devices still easy to determine under the attractive natural golden-orange color. A few wispy lines in the fields preclude a 65 grade, but the eye appeal of this coin is readily deserving of a plus grade designation by PCGS.

Two PR64+DCAM 1892 half eagles are currently known, and the other example sold for $31,200 as Heritage 5/2022: 3608.

CAC has approved two in PR64+ DCAM with three finer.
