RARE PCGS/CAC MS63 1906-0 EAGLE

A total of four Liberty Head eagles were produced at the New Orleans mint in the early 20th century. The scarcest member of this quartet is the 1906-O. It is most often seen in MS60 to MS62 grades and properly graded MS63 pieces are very scarce.

This piece was slabbed many years ago and while I do not believe it is an MS64 by todays standards, I feel it is very choice for the assigned grade. The color is a lovely glowing orange-gold and this is illuminated by strong underlying luster. There are some light scuffs consistent with the grade and the lower reverse has a few unobtrusive grease stains, as made.

Heritage 1/14: 6944, graded MS63 by NGC and approved by CAC, sold for $7,050.

This is an exceptionally nice example of the final eagle produced by the New Orleans mint.

CAC has approved 10 in this grade with six finer.
