CHOICE AU55 1882-CC HALF EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

The 1882-CC is by far the most available Carson City half eagle made prior to 1890. Many are known in AU55 but probably less than one-quarter are worthy of CAC consideration due to poor handling.

This is a Choice AU by anyone's standards with natural russet color over very lightly worn surfaces. There are almost no marks seen on either side and the strike is razor sharp.

No CAC approved AU55 1882-CC half eagles from either service have sold at action in the last few years. The two most recent APR's for NGC AU55's are $2,703 in Legend's 1/17 sale and $2,600 in the Heritage 9/16 sale. Another NGC AU55 without CAC approval sold for a strong $3,774 as Heritage 9/16: 4719.
