CHOICE EF 1874-CC HALF EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

Variety 1-B.

The 1874-CC is the most available of the early date Carson City half eagles. While it has a high certified population in Extremely Fine, only a handful are choice and original.

This example has warm natural green-gold color with extremely choice surfaces. It shows nearly enough detail to grade AU50 but not enough luster; the central obverse shows typical lack of detail.

No PCGS EF45 1874-CC half eagle has sold at auction since 2006 An NGC EF45 brought $7,638 as Heritage 9/16: 5678.

For many specialized collectors, EF45 is the target grade for this date and the present 1874-CC is a really attractive example.

CAC has approved 4 in this grade with 15 finer.
