VERY CHOICE PCGS/CAC AU55 1806 HALF EAGLE

BD-6, R-2. Round 6, 7x6 Stars

The 1806 Round 6 half eagle is among the more available Capped Bust Right half eagles which makes it popular with type collectors. There are many graded AU55 but only a small percentage of said pieces are CAC-worthy with natural color and unmolested surfaces.

This fresh-to-the-market example is among the most original appearing examples of this type that I have offered for sale in some time. Deep green-gold color can be seen on both sides and there is a good deal of dirt encrusted in the protected areas. Some luster clings to the borders and the surfaces are clean and wholesome. The overall "look" of this coin is just exceptional.

The last PCGS AU55 example of this issue to sell at auction was a non-CAC piece which still brought $10,575 as Heritage 2/14: 5353. The CAC approved NGC AU55 Newman V: 3280 coin sold for a strong $13,513 in November 2014.

This is a perfect starter coin for the sophisticated collector who wants to begin a savvy set of early half eagles.

CAC has approved 17 in this grade with 68 finer.
